A:
You should always use a page size that equals
the desired finished size of the document. For
example, if you are building an 8.5 x 11 booklet
that will be printed 17 x 11 (this is referred
to as the flat size), your Document Page

You should always order your pages in the
finished page order. For example, if you are
building a 20 page booklet, your document page
order should be 1 through 20. (See Illustration

How do I layout a book cover?
A:
The layout of your book cover should be as it
will be printed (flat layout). It should include
the back cover, spine and front cover. (See
Illustration Below)
Hint:
Use the column guides in Quark to get precise
spine guides.
- In
Quark select Page > Display > Master(A).
- Now
select Page > Master Guides
- Insert
2 into the Columns field
- Insert
the spine width measurement in the Gutter
Width field. Your Quark Guides are now set
for the correct measurements of your cover.

How do I accommodate Bleeds?
A:
Bleeds are accomplished by extending image over
the edge of your document page. Please extend
bleeds by at least .25 of an inch all around.
