  The Hignell on Demand (HOD) process is simplicity itself:  
 

Electronic files (preferably PDFs) are submitted by the publisher -- one for the text (inside pages) and one for the cover.

  
 

The files are pre-flighted, indexed, and stored digitally

  
 

The text file is run through imposition software on a Xerox Digipath

 
   
  Proofs are sent to the publisher  
  Changes are made to the files as necessary  
 

The final imposed text file is sent electronically to one of our Xerox Nuvera digital presses and the inside pages printed

  
   
  Printed pages are cut into "book blocks"  
  Meanwhile, the cover file has been ouptut and printed separately on a Xerox DocuColor 7000. Now an option - gloss or matte film lamination.  
   
  Finally, the books are bound and trimmed, using traditional perfect binding and three-knife trimming equipment  
  Finished books are shipped  
  End-to-end time, from proof approval, is usually six to eight business days
